Should the situation worsen,
leaking radioactive material has the potential to spread further afield to contaminate neighbouring islands and countries through sea and air currents.

For all concerned, there are protective steps that can be taken with homeopathy.

Useful Remedies

The whole of homeopathic prescribing is based on the principle that a substance treats or prevents symptoms that are similiar to those it produces. (See Tutorial 1: The Law of Similars) .

In the instance of radiation poisoning, all that has to be known for homeopathic treatment to begin is which remedies, during their testing phase, produced symptoms similar to those of radiation poisoning. Those remedies are then used by homeopaths with a reasonable degree of confidence for either protection against radiation sickness or treatment of it.

For this reason, homeopaths and homeopathic organisations have been releasing statements since the beginning of the crisis, listing remedies that may be helpful.

At Homeopathy Plus, we have confined our suggestions to those remedies whose effects are also supported by research and/or confirmed with clinical successes as reported by doctors and physicians dealing with radiation exposure during the Great World Wars. (References regarding research and clinical usage of these remedies can be found in links at the bottom of this Alert.)

Those remedies include the following:

1. Cadmium iodatum (Cadm-i.)
2. Cadmium sulphuricum (Cadm-s.)
3. Phosphorus (Phos.)
4. Strontium carbonicum (Stront-c.)
5. X-ray

Obtaining Remedies

There are several ways of obtaining remedies. At a time of emergency, most homeopaths will be able to supply them to you and many natural health stores or pharmacies also carry a limited range of homeopathics. In some countries, homeopathic pharmacies supply direct to the public. Of the above remedies, Phosphorus is the most well-known remedy and likely to be the easiest to obtain.

Instructions

Protection: Any one of the above remedies may be used along with other precautionary measures if under threat of radiation exposure. Take a dose of a 30C potency, three times a day.

If a 30C potency is not available, use whatever potency is on hand, taking a more frequent dose for lower potencies (4-6 times a day) and a less frequent dose (1-2 times a day) for highter potencies. Of course, all other emergency response precautions should also be taken.

Do not exceed 6 doses without guidance from your homeopath who will help you to adjust the frequency of dose according to the risk of exposure and your sensitivity to the remedy.

Treatment: If radiation sickness has developed, your homeopath is the best person to advise on homeopathic treatment – remedies, dosages and potencies – as these will depend on the symptoms you are experiencing and their severity.

Do be aware that a larger range of remedies may be referred to for treatment as idiosyncratic reactions of the sufferer are taken into account for best results. This is not the case with symptom prevention, however, where only the characteristic symptoms of that disease (rather than of the person) have to be matched, requiring a smaller group of remedies.

It was about as deadly as the Black Death. Twenty million people died world-wide. Twelve and a half (12.5) million died in India alone – four percent of the population. In the United States, 548,000 people died in the epidemic.

The following is an extract from an article entitled “Homeopathy in Influenza- A Chorus Of Fifty In Harmony” by W. A. Dewey, MD from the Journal of the American Institute Of Homeopathy in 1921.

* Dean W. A. Pearson of Philadelphia collected 26,795 cases of influenza treated by homoeopathic physicians with a mortality of 1.05%, while the average old school mortality was 30%.

* Thirty physicians in Connecticut responded to my request for data. They reported 6,602 cases with 55 deaths, which is less than 1%. In the transport service I ha 81 cases on the way over. All recovered and were landed. Every man received homoeopathic treatment. One ship lost 31 on the way. – H. A Roberts, MD, Derby, Connecticut

* In a plant of almost 8,000 workers we had only one death. The patients were not drugged to death. Gelsemium was practically the only remedy used. We used no aspirin and no vaccines. – Frank Wieland, MD, Chicago

* I did not lose a single case of influenza ; my death rate in the pneumonia was 2.1%. The salicylates, including aspirin and quinine, were almost the sole standbys of the old school and it was a common thing to hear them speaking of losing 60% of their pneumonias. – Dudley A. Williams, MD, Providence, Rhode Island

* Fifteen hundred cases were reported at the Homoeopathic Medical Society of the District of Combia with but fifteen deaths. Recoveries in the National Homoeopathic Hospital were 100% – E. F. Sappington, MD, Philadelphia.

* I have treated 1,000 cases of infuenza. I have the records to show my work. I have no losses. Please give all credit to homoeopathy and none to the Scotch-Irish-American! T. A. McCaan, MD, Dayton, Ohio.

* One physician in a Pittsburg hospital asked a nurse if she knew anything better than what he was doing, because he was losing many cases. “Yes, Doctor, stop aspirin and go down to a homeopathic pharmacy, and get homeopathic remedies.” The Doctor replied: “But that is homeopathy.” “I know it, but the homeopathic doctors for whom I have nursed have not lost a single case.”

Julian Winston relates a further comment from his first homeopath, Dr Ray Seidel:

“In reading accounts of the epidemic it seems many deaths were caused by a virulent pneumonia that was especially devastating to those who depressed their system with analgesics, the most common being aspirin. Raymond Seidel told me he decided to become a homeopathic doctor when he was 10 year old delivery boy for a local homeopath. He said, “I saw that the people who were taking aspirin were dying, and about half of those who were drinking a lot of whiskey were dying, and those receiving homeopathic remedies were living.”

The following is some brief information on each approach.

Potentised Vaccines (Isopathic Treatment)

Sometimes, to repair damage that has occurred, a person may be re-dosed in a safe homeopathic form by the very vaccine that is suspected of causing their health problem. This approach, called isopathic treatment, works on the homeopathic principle of like-treats-like; or, what a substance can cause, it can also correct or prevent. Because the potentised vaccine is prepared according to safe homeopathic principles it is free of harmful components, and is capable of stimulating a strong self-healing action from the body.The following is some brief information on each approach.

Homeopathic Nosodes

Sometimes viruses or viral components from the live virus vaccines such as the MMR, chickenpox, rotavirus, or typhoid vaccines remain in the system causing ongoing chronic health problems. These may be corrected by giving a homeopathic remedy of that virus, called a nosode. Again, because these nosodes have been prepared homeopathically, they are free of infective material and completely safe. They can, however, stimulate the body to deal with unwanted viral problems and increase its resistance to the particular disease caused by that virus.

Constitutional Homeopathic Treatment

The full homeopathic approach, based on like-treats-like, prescribes a potentised remedy that closely matches the overall health problems of the person rather than just those linked to the vaccine. This approach is recommended as the first course of action when there is no clear link between the person’s symptoms and vaccination. It may also be used as an alternative to the isopathic or nosode approach even when a clear link has been established.

Constitutional homeopathic treatment works more deeply than isopathic or nosode approaches. It corrects the symptoms created by the vaccine and the pre-existing energetic imbalance that allowed the harm to occur. As a result, the person’s overall health improves during treatment rather than just the symptoms related to the vaccine damage. At the very least, constitutional homeopathic treatment is strongly recommended as a conclusion to any isopathic or nosode approach so that the person has the best chance of being returned to a complete state of health.

It is important to realise that during constitutional treatment, homeopathic remedies are prescribed on a case-by-case basis according to the unique symptoms of that person. Remedies cannot be used in a ‘this for that’ manner as with the isopathic and nosode approaches. Instead, a course of treatment has to be prescribed under the guidance of a qualified homeopathic practitioner.

Veterinary homeopathy has been in existence for almost as long as human homeopathy – over two hundred years. Bovine Mastitis (Udder Infection in Cows)

Study 1: Christopher Day also carried out a study on cows in 2007 and found that after homeopathic treatment with nosodes, cases of bovine mastitis dropped from 20 a month to 3 and 4 in subsequent months.

Study 2: A double-blind study done on randomised cows found that the homeopathic prophylactic reduced the incidence of mastitis from 50% to only 5% in the treated sample. These impressive results were published in the English Dairy Farmer paper.

Today, most British dairy farmers use homeopathy for the prevention of mastitis, among other things, in their herds because it makes good economic sense.

Stillbirths in Pigs

Study 1: In 1983 a study was done in a large pig farm with high rates of stillbirth. Within weeks of being treated with the homeopathic preventative, the stillbirth rate had dropped to a quarter of normal levels.

These are just a few examples of the wide range of animal illnesses and problems that homeopathy can protect against. The benefits are obvious: no toxic chemicals mean a happier, healthier pet; the pilules and liquids are easy to administer; and the treatment is affordable. The rates of success are high, being comparable or better than those of conventional vaccines. Best of all, homeopathy works by building your animal’s natural immunity so that your pet’s health is improved, never worsened.

A newly released study by the peer-reviewed journal Neurotoxicology has seemingly confirmed a link between vaccines containing Thimerosol and neurological damage.

• A University of Pittsburgh research team monitored the reflexes of a group of 20 macaque monkeys. Thirteen had been vaccinated within 24 hours of birth by a Hepatitis B vaccine containing the preservative Thimerosol; the others had either received a placebo injection or were unvaccinated
• Over two weeks, the researchers studied the infant monkeys’ abilities to perform nine basic reflexes. Three of the reflexes were significantly delayed in the vaccinated monkeys, while two other reflexes were also delayed and “approached significance”.
• Those not given the vaccine showed no delays in development.
• The vaccinated macaques learned more slowly to: 1) turn their head in response to a brush on the cheek (the root reflex); 2) open their mouth in response to a brush on the forehead (the snout reflex); and 3) suck on a nipple placed in their mouth (the suck reflex)
• The vaccine given to the baby monkeys was adjusted for weight so that the primates received only 2mcg of Thimerosol.
• Alarm bells are now ringing because the new AH1N1 (swine flu) vaccine contains 24.5mcg  of Thimerosol – 49 times the FDA allowable daily limit for adults. It has been deemed ‘unsafe’ for children under ten years but in a move that may place their growing foetuses at risk, pregnant mothers are being targeted as the first recipients.
• According to Dr. Andrew Wakefield, Executive Director of Thoughtful House, “Thimerosol is still routinely used in Hepatitis B and numerous other vaccines world-wide.”
• The researchers involved in the study were keen to point out that they could not be sure if it was the Thimerosol that caused the neurological damage, the vaccine itself, or a combination of the two. Clearly more research is needed before we begin a mass vaccination program for the AH1N1 (swine flu). A cloud continues to hang over all vaccines.
