What Are Homeopathic Prophylactics

Historical prevention claim: This page is preserved as archive material. The Australian Immunisation Handbook states that homeopathic preparations do not induce immunity and are not an alternative to vaccination. Do not delay vaccination, testing, post-exposure treatment or urgent care. Browse the immunisation archive with its current context.

Prophylactics are homoeopathic remedies used for disease prevention.

Just as the law of similars can be used to choose remedies for treatment, it can also be applied for prevention – remedies can prevent the symptoms they produce.

This principle is already used in vaccination. Vaccines made from infectious organisms are used to prevent the very diseases they’re made from. The big difference between homoeopathic prophylaxis and vaccination is that vaccines contain numerous additives that are harmful for health, work at a chemical level, and bypass the body’s early detection and defence mechanisms when injected directly into a muscle.

In contrast, a homoeopathic remedy has no dangerous additives and is prepared so that there are no remaining molecules of the infecting organism or virus. While the method of action is not yet fully understood, the remedy (prophylactic) appears to carry an energetic imprint of the original substance into the body that in turn stimulates resistance to the targeted disease.

While prophylactics are commonly prepared, just like vaccines, from the infecting organism or virus, this is not always necessary. Any remedy that produces symptoms similar to the disease will also have a protective effect against the disease. For this reason, many of our common homoeopathic remedies that are used for a range of day-to-day complaints also have protective effects against many serious epidemic diseases.

Prophylactic remedies can be used for all the common childhood diseases such as whooping cough, measles, mumps and chickenpox, as well as more serious ones such as meningococcal disease, diphtheria, and typhus. The remedies are not just for children, they will also work for adults.

Homoeopathic prophylactics are also available for travellers, pets and farm animals. There are even prophylactic remedies for many plant diseases and pests.

Prophylaxis Appointments

In compliance with the Australian Homeopathic Association and the Australian Register of Homoeopaths guidelines, prophylactics can only be supplied by one of our homoeopaths in the context of a consultation so that all questions can be adequately answered.

Prophylactic appointments take approximately half an hour and cost $80.00. The remedies can be purchased at the time of the consultation or at a later date. Appointments are conducted in person at our premises in the Tuggerah Business Park (NSW) or by phone or skype.

For more information regarding prophylactic remedies and prices, or to make an appointment, please contact the Clinic by phone (02 4304 0822 – national callers / +61 2 4304 0822 – international callers). Information can also be found on this page.
